Art as liberation. Community centered programming.
The Braided Janes created MUSAS because the most powerful voices in our community are often the least amplified. It's a recurring platform where queer, Latina/e artists don't just perform — they are celebrated, resourced, and connected to audiences who need to hear them.
From Noche de Musas I in 2021 to La Décima Musa at the National Museum of Mexican Art in 2025, and MUSAS FEST Pride at Navy Pier's Skyline Sessions on June 25, 2026 — every edition has been bigger, louder, and more community-rooted than the last.

The History
MUSAS
2021 — Noche de Musas I
Where It All Began
September 26, 2021 at Simone's in Pilsen — an all-women, Latina, queer-fronted lineup featuring DJ Angelfuk, Caro Arroba, Renee Goust, and The Braided Janes. The first safe space we built together.
2023 — Noche de Musas II
Queer Fiestas Patrias
Latine Heritage Month at the National Museum of Mexican Art — featuring Niña Dioz, Mariachi Sirenas, DJ Sandra Treviño, an eco-conscious fashion show, and the official release of Renacer.
2025 — La Décima Musa
Sor Juana Festival
Invited by the National Museum of Mexican Art to produce an official Sor Juana Festival event — two days of live performance, poetry, sustainable fashion, and community workshops honoring the 17th-century feminist icon.

Skyline Sessions
Pride Week 2026. The Braided Janes took over Navy Pier's Skyline Sessions stage for a free lakefront celebration — queer and Latina/e joy with the Chicago skyline as the backdrop. Our biggest outdoor stage yet, and the crowd showed up.
Every stage is a homecoming.
